I have three related questions regarding roman mail.

During the time that plate lorica (lorica segmentata) was worn in the legions, what evidence is available suggsting that mail was still worn (albeit to a lesser degree)?

Is there any source that notes the comparative costs of mail and plate lorica during this time period? Was mail more expensive?

Is there any evidence to suggest that plate lorica was worn mainly by the common soldiers while the wealthier classes preferred mail?
