Silk Trade.

You could try looking at the University of Washington "Silk Road Seattle" project - http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad/index.html - which has an enormous amount of information.

Translated sources from the Chinese end include
http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad/te ... n_shu.html and http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad/te ... eilue.html which both have chapters on Rome - "Da Qin".
cheers,
Duncan
