Roman Metal Armour-Polished or Dull?

One very nice thing to have here at RAT would be a file of every "shiny, bright" etc comment known about armor listed by year written which would give us a very good idea of the style of armor referred to.. AND the Latin word and the interpretation of a modern scholar... maybe 3? ..... just in case there are alternate interpretations.
