Since this forum is probably the best place to ask (), what was the status of non-combatant personnel in Roman Legion after Marian reforms ?
There seemed to be quite a good number of those in legion, so what was their status ? They obviously took care of baggage train, baggage animals etc. and provided lot of functions that supply troops do nowadays.
Were they Roman citizens ? Latin rights ? Slaves ?
Any good sources and references about them ?
