Mail in Late Roman armies
#1
Hello,
I read in Osprey's Late Roman Infantryman that the segementata is out of use by the late 3rd/ early 4th century. Scale and mail become the primary form of body armour, if armour is worn at all.

How long should a mail shirt for a 4th century auxilla in Britainnia be? Is there anything that makes it distinctively Roman?

For reenactment purposes, how to you all feel about butted mail?
Cheers,
Michael/Fearghus/Firminus
