Representation of Auxiliary soldiers in museums
#3
Dear Jasper

I am mainly looking at UK museums for hard research, but I am interested in outside the UK for compassion in a softer sense, i.e. for fun as well as for inclusion in thesis!

As for a time frame, I'm looking mainly from the 1970's in the UK (with a few example from older if possible).

When you say 'museums imitating museums' do you mean one museum having a display or dummy based on another from a different museum without independent research? If so, I think that is part of the problem and why stereotypes appear. There is also the expectation of the viewing public to 'see' certain images of Romans in museums, due to TV/Film images and those in popular books.
