Rectangle scutum in Caesarian times

Matthew, I think non of us has problems with rectangular scuta in republican times. Not only, I told that rectangular scuta were used in the early period of Rome according to pictorial evidences mainly etruscan.
We are just discussing about these sculptural evidences and if they can be used to sustain the Caesar's scuta were rectangular and not oval.
I think they were both used, but mainly roman scuta were oval in that period.
