Shawn, you can show up at events as a light auxiliary with just a shield, helmet, sword, tunic, spear, and military belt. Some of the Auxiliaries were specialists, and were equipped with special weapons. MRL is junk for every thing. Don't even think of them when deciding who to buy from. What time period do you want to represent? You hinted first century but do you have a exact date ( a twenty five year period )?
