Off topic, I don't suppose the situation in Istanbul is any better.

I didnt make it that far north this time Michael, just went from Antalya to Kusadasi, visiting the historical sites in between. I did speak to someone who visited Istanbul earlier this year whilst I was over in Turkey and they claimed the situation is worse if anything. And I saw evidence of mosques dating from the 14-17th centuries under going 'restoration' in several places on my route which looked like they were trying to make them look brand new.

Interestingly, the guide did not mention the Hittites at all during the tour, which was odd as the area I was in was both Hittite and Gasgan territory.
