the answer is simple and is called market economy plus when I see the "interest" most of the pupils today show towards learning I can trace the comments, they can't even speak, read or write in their mother tongue and they should learn Latin or Greek.
As for me I was raised in Romania where Latin was at that time studied for 1 year (8'th degree) 1 hr a week, result we were not over "Aqvila non capit muscas"
Children today need to have time for Xbox and TV they don't need to learn, plus if you want something there is always internet, and Wiki (lol)
