I have a shorter one as well. I prefer taking a longer pilum for demonstrations, since when I put it against a shield, it makes a more vivid impression how far can it go through the shield wounding the warrior.

Some of the surviving pilum heads are very long. Most reconstructions use the Oberaden pila as their model, but other, very different examples exist, many of which have been published since the end of the Cold War.
