Sponsorship of Re-Enactment Groups

Whether it is a charity, individual, organization or Government taking money can have draw backs. Even if at first there are no requirements later after you become dependent on the money you become vulnerable to outside influence. There are many examples of this well know to most but as they mostly involve government and therefore Political discussions they are not appropriate to be discussed here.

If an organizations interests and goals like a museum for example closely align with those of your reenactment group there is less danger of sponsorships becoming a problem but you still have to consider that those sponsor organizations also may have influences on them and also the effect on your group if at some point in the future the organization either cuts back or ceases support.
