How Effective were Spears Against Cavalry?
#92
Was that long Chinese anecdote moved from another thread?

Not sure where it went, but the thread moments ago had a reference to suicide attacks by Japanese pilots. These were not done because it was effective, not as a first choice. They were done because there were too few aircraft available to the Japanese government to attack any other way. They were painfully short on fuel, and filled each plane enough to get to the target, and no further. They stripped out instruments, and anything else that had weight, replaced that with bombs and/or explosives, and sent the patched-up planes out.

If it had been for effectiveness alone, they would have STARTED the war with this sort of attack, don't you think? It was an act of final desparation, not a primary strategy. Perhaps this thread will likewise destruct? Big Grin
