Excavations!
#20
Hi Fidelis Sam,
...the battlefield marcvsvibivsmavrinvs pointed at got its regular website here:
http://www.roemerschlachtamharzhorn.de in German .....
….but with minor contributions in English.
More informations in German on a TV-Special on the Romans In Germany, that also dealt with that subject can be found here :
http://www.planet-wissen.de/sendungen/20...roemer.jsp
…..with the Harzhorn mentioned here (In German):
http://www.planet-wissen.de/politik_gesc...rzhorn.jsp
The 6th Field Of Conflict Conference >on Battlefield Archeology, has been held at Osnabrück (Germany)in April, so expect a full(and most likely expensive) report on it to come out during one of the next years. Since this was an international convention and the website is held in English:
http://www.fieldsofconflict2011.uni-osnabrueck.de/
most of the papers will be in English, I presume.
I suspect that there may be papers/books around on Conferences 1-5, as well.

If you type in “Harzhorn” or “Kalefeld” into “Search” on this here forum, you may find a number of postings on that subject, also.

Then there will be a german book be published on battlefield archeology in October, which deals -among others-- with this battlesite. (In German)

(No affiliations with them on my side, but since I keep pestering them with their
sometimes somewhat irritating printing mistakes, I thought it would be unfair to leave
this book out here. )
Hope this helped

BTW: I got "bitten by the bug" at 11 and I just saw a kids-TV-special this morning where the proud owner of a functioning "roman" quadriga confessed that this also had happened to him at 12. So, methinks one can never be too young to make his mind up for the more serious things in life like "Re-enactement".
Yes, folks, and I also remember that I put little gray plastic parts (out of a package with "Airfix" written on it) together to unidentifiable lumps of plastic -- and liking it !
(It musta been the fumes, really, that I liked ? )
