Did the Romans love Garum because of the MSG?

How about thinking that Garum was used like salt?
Ever tried some of those Thai fish sauces, which are made on a very simular basis like garum?
All this MSG and other chemical additives are so called "blessings" of our modern food industries. Now all we need is some one to find roman aquivilants to those substances marked as E-100 or E-140 etc. On the other hand why should the romans have given that any thought as stuff like MSG was unknown to them......ancient people certainly would not have a modern approach on things, which we know of in detail because of research in the last few centuries. On that basis one could ask what where the roman thoughts on aluminium.....
