Because, if none of these were really invented by steppe cultures, I think the Romans left us with a great deal more 'lasting traditions', such as the originins of Law, the road system as we know it, the arch, town planning, canal building, aquaduct technology (did I mention concrete yet?), military organisation, Asterix comics, the cross, ehm... What have the Romans ever done for us??
