October 6, 105 BC: Battle of Arausio: The Teutoni and the Cimbri under Boiorix defeat the Roman army, commanded by the proconsul Quintus Servilius Caepio and consul Gnaeus Mallius Maximus due to a lack of cooperation between the Roman commanders.
October 6, 69 BC: Battle of Tigranocerta against Tigranes of Armenia in the Third Mithridatic War. The Roman army under Lucullus feigned a retreat, defeated the Armenian cataphracts by to attacking the horses' legs and thighs and broke up the remaining Armenian infantry. The capital Tigranocerta, defenceless, was looted by the Romans afterwards.
