Er, that's brilliant! I can't help picking up on the word order...8 men with a saddle on their backs, donkey on top.

I know what you mean, though. What did a donkey pack frame look like? I can't remember seeing one in pictures, though there must be one somewhere. No doubt it's reasonably similar to the ones still used today. The donkey body hasn't changed since Roman days, eh? That would be amazing to see: 8 men in kit marching, and a donkey carrying the gear, probably with an attendant holding the donkey bridle? A great addition to the impression. Go for it!
