Probably the difference resulted from a tribal name (Getae?) and a geographical association (Dacii).
Thanks for quoting Herodotus. He was the first and one of best, considering what he had to work with in his own time. So many of his "wild tales" have been proved by archaeology; and by any account, he gave us some great stories.
