Turtledove on Teutoburger Wald

I also enjoyed the Videssos cycle series and the US Civil War based "Guns for the South". Based on the description, it seems to me that this newest venture is along the lines of historic fiction rather than a sci-fi story. Several years ago he wrote "Fort Pillow" as a historic fiction novel and I thought it quite good.

As you say, another one to add to the list. Speaking of which, I'm reading your "The Forgotten Legion". I've just reached the part where three of the four main characters have met for the first time. It is a really great read and I've enjoyed it enough to have already pre-ordered the forthcoming sequel.
