Tower found in Nijmegen/Netherlands
#15
Quote:What legionary thingy on the Kops Plateau? You're confusing your mountains (well, by Dutch standards that is). There was only an auxiliary fort and possibly an army HQ.
Guilty. Big Grin
Quote:And I wasn't telling my own opinion on what's important, but that what Mark Driessen represents in his study of Roman Nijmegen. .
So who's Mark Driessen to tell us what's important and what isn't? The military has received an enormous amount of attention, with the Valkhof coming up second. This western part is even less researched.
Quote:I think the whole area should be declared a protected Historical site of worldwide importance, and all consruction (apart from reconstruction of the Roman sites) Banned for all time! :!:

Yes, well, Nijmegen has a bit of a reputation there. Just mention Waalkade, casino and Roman wall in one sentence. :x
