How thick were origional helmets?

Some ancient contractors may have cheated the Roman Legions providing
thinner metal than the provided specifications.

It did happen (though whether cheating was involved is another subject) as seen in a late Roman lanciarius' letter, in which he specifically says the new swords aren't up to the right specification. However, I'd dare say the swords would have been returned perhaps?
