When I was 15, I made my first decent ballista- now I have almost finished my kit, and I am making a metalframed ballista(which is quite a big project, even if I say it myself). And I am only a year older than you! I am most certain that you can learn how to make armour and other parts for a kit, quite fast too. It all depends on your enthusiasm for your hobby.
