Leg II Augusta shield blazon
#7
Hi Andy,

I found it at the bottom of THIS PAGE. It´s a facsimile plaque of Legio II Augusta
recording work done at Benwell/Condercum now displayed at the Roman Army Museum, Carvoran.
The inscription is listed as RIB 1341; oddly this one is missed by Guy de la Bédoyère on his website. The dating would be Hadrianic-Antonine (117-80), for several more of II Augusta´s inscriptions were found in this are around that time:
c. 122-6: Hadrian's Wall: RIB 1634, 1637-8 and 1666,
139-43: RIB 2191 (Balmuildy), RIB 2186 from near Cadder, RIB 2180 from near Auchendavy,
139: RIB 1147, Corbridge,
140: RIB 1148 (1), Corbridge, and
155-9: RIB 1322 (14), Newcastle.
