I don't understand why the thiod element is supposed to be uniquely gothic. I have understood it to be used throughout germanic speaking areas. For example, the three administrative areas of the Nordalbingens, Dithmarschen, Holsten and Stormahn are thought by some historians to be the original homelands of the Saxons. As an administrative district, a Gau, it appears as Thietmaresgau.
As a name, the modern equivalent of Thietmar, Dietmar, is common throughout germanic speaking world with a number of variants, Thiemo, Thimo, Timo, Tim, Ditmar, Volkmar.
