Actually the rules for this have changed lately (a couple of weeks ago). Previously sharp weapons were allowed for re-enactment. Now they aren't anymore! So if you would use a weapon in Germany during re-enactment. I would advice to let it be blunt!

oh, didn't know this :o so thanks for the info Jurjen ... but anyway ... without having done serious fighting re-enactment ... I think that even blunt weapons are too dangerous when used roman style properly (i.e. thrusting techniques) ... I personally would prefer a wooden training sword (this being sometimes even painfull enough ;-) ) )
