The importance of Roman Reconstruction Archaeology
#46
Thank you for your comments. I was really only considering the Roman period, and was unaware of the conference in Exeter. Looking at the topics it was striking how much other re-enacters could offer. For instance I had fun making 15th century black power back in the mid-90's when I was playing the part of a handgunner. Fun, but too dangerous. Good reproduction pottery is available for all periods. In Comitatus there is a profusion of late 4th century Crambeck style-pots. There is wealth of experience out there in all periods.

And certainly taking good reproduction artefacts into schools is a great way to engage children and teachers with history. Over 200 kids each week are treated to my version of British history. Let's hope they all join Comitatus one day!
