Sorry for being late im answerimg that but:
Greaves and "epimeridia" are depicted on an Attic vase found in Vulchi (Etruria) dated 510 B.C. and attributed top the painter of Villa Julia-
It shows 2 horsmen with this equipment trampling a Skythian.

So greaves did exist in the Arcahic period.
