Salve,
For a Legionary in AD 120 (Legio XXI Rapax)... should the corners of the scuta be slightly rounded off or left sharp right angles? Obviously, rounded makes the edging a much easier task.
I will be doing the edging in rawhide, not brass due to financial restrictions as well as we will be using these for SCA battle and light brass simply wouldn't cut the mustard.
Also, is there any evidence of umbos being left black from the forge?
What say you good people?
