New Gallic A

I just received my new Deepeeka Imperial Gallic A and I love it. I have a large head, large enough that the Deepeeka helmets were too snug. But because of the bowl depth and shape, it fits with slight padding. Two things, however. First, I will replace the two "Frankenstein" bolts holding the brow guard in place with either copper or brass dome bolts. Second, I'm not certain how the chin strap is wound. I know that the ends are not tied, but "latched" over the exterior studs on the cheek piece. There are two rings under the neck flange. What's up with that? Also, any Gallic A owners out there figure how to fill in the small but obvious gap between flange and bowl? I'd appreciate your comments.
