Quote: they faced the Legions for their final battle, how many unrelated groups, and warbands
were involved? How many were still using Boudicca for a war leader? Maybe a figurehead,
but .... I have doubts she was 'in charge' of the Briton horde by then. I suspect it was more
like she was riding lead in a stampede and had to go along for the ride.
It's all very well to start a wildfire, but controlling it,.... that's something completely different.
That assertion seems to fit. Still, the semi circle of carts that the Britons were trapped against does seem like something that Boudicca, despite a limited amount of control, could have done away with. But then again, even though I wouldn't have wanted to take on a Roman Legion head on, I wouldn't have expected quite the disaster it turned out to be.
I guess I should think of Boudicca as more of a catalyst than a real leader.
