Considering that hinges and fittings are most of the work on a lorica, I would never buy this one just to "fix it up"! You'd be left with plates that are too thick and, as mentioned, possibly stainless steel. And it might not fit! Not to mention chrome-tanned straps, galvanized washers, maybe aluminum rivets... Easier to scrounge your own steel from trash piles and build the whole thing from scratch.

Spend a little more for something vastly better, or save the money and put yourself through weeks of torment for a very iffy result! I know what my advice would be.

If all you need is a cheap "try on" piece for a museum, or a nice stage prop, sure, this one will do fine.
