fair priced and not too bad segmie......

Well, I'm not sure what you've been looking at, since this is nearly identical to Albion's (made by International Steelcrafts in India) and the previous-generation Deepeeka. I don't *think* it's the Albion one--too cheap, for one thing, and the lobed hinges (though identical in outline) are the incorrect single-layer construction. Same fancy strap and buckle fittings, same lacing loops with the loop kind of flattened. But the inside back buckles are modern roller buckles--that's not Albion. Might be an older Deepeeka, like I said, or someone else's imitation of it. From what I've seen, the new Deepeeka lorica is better overall.

On this one, the shoulder guards look fine to me, not even horribly wide like on some repros. They even got the center plate of the upper shoulder guard right, rectangular instead of pentagonal. But yeah, they built all their hinges wrong, copied a very overused rare style for the strap and buckle plates and the lacing loops, and the plates don't properly overlap where they are hinged together. Too heavy, too!

I think someone else was asking me about this very piece last week or so. Same pink dot inside... Who the heck is the manufacturer?

Vale,

Matthew
