Quote:steve,who made that for you?

John Lundemo made the sword to specs. He does excellent work but if you’re thinking of using him, there’s a few things you should know. If you like, I can P.M. some concerns.

Folks,
My Pompeii by Albion and my Mainz. On the Mainz I modified the shape of the pommel to be less football shaped.

Cheers!!

Mine's just a standard pompeiensis, but one thing that's different from most is that I have a newfound love of all the seemingly personal markings on Roman equipment, so I 'personalized' my gladius Big Grin In this case I went by the 'Guttmann' gladius and used its Centurio marking (a soldier's Century seems to have been denoted not by a number, but by the name of the Centurio) and then added my own chosen Roman name using letterforms from the original gladius and other original pieces.

The marking reads:

> C VALERI PR
C LVCILVI VAR

standing for (Centurio) GAIVS VALERIVS PRIMVS
GAIVS LVCILIVS VARVS

I replicated the Centurio marking right from the original- including the fact that it's not even close to being straight, evenly-spaced, etc. and tried to keep my personal marking consistent this way.

All I have so far is the Find-It-Armory SDK1171. I feel lazy at the moment, so I'm using their catalogue photograph instead of taking my own picture of the one I got from them. The main difference between the catalogue picture and my gladius is that I polished up the brass really nicely. Also, I think the grip on mine has slightly deeper finger indentations, not because of personal upgrades, just lucky manufacturing variation.

Left to right is a modified Windlass Steelcrafts "Maintz" with redone grip, pommel and guard. Also, the scabbard was intensly modified. The second is a Geoffry Knight Pompeii, with a Mark Morrow sharpening. The third is my Fulham, with a Mark Morrow blade, Len Morgan scabbard, and last but not least, a Matt Lukes pommel, grip, and guard. (Sorry for the finger prints on the blade of the "Maintz", . It won't happen again.)
