Massive gathering in Germania in 2009
#16
I ll could try, sure.
But as far as i could see under this link, its just planed some exhibits in cooperation of three museums.
While Kalkriese do every two years a "roman days" this year at Detmold first time takes something like roman days part.
In the article isnt a word of it.
But if there are some groups which will participate at a greater event i would try to get contact.

Dear Fellows,

It’s a very good idea - make a great re-enactment event at 2009 in Germany by the 2000 years after the roman defeat.

Logical, to maximize all the potential, we can join other roman historical periods like the several examples before.

But I have a few questions for understanding better the general idea:

- This is a personal or an organization idea? (Who?)
- (The organization(s)) have already local, regional, national or European contacts levels to help to advance whit this idea?
- What is the actual “situation pointâ€

right now it seems more to be a question who would participate.
If it will really come to a planing phase there will be a kind of comitee of volenteers of the several groups to be build, but thats the question IF it happens Smile

Cause there isnt right now an organisation there cant be really contatcs, but if this threat here will be sucessfull, the different volenteers perhaps bring enough contacts to manage it or can link the needed.

The "right now" situation is a question of subjective view Smile
In my opinion there isnt a real "enthusiastic" feedback and the "voice leaders" of the several groups should be asked for their and their group interest directly.
Perhaps Tarbicus see it more positiv Big Grin
And we should set an ending date for the poll and the question / starting point to plan IF we wanna really try.

I thought you were doing well, but it's not one of those things that will happen overnight, and it would be a long struggle uphill. Unfortunately, there seems to be very little interest in it, at the moment.

It may well be that the majority of re-enactors just aren't interested in the Varrian Disaster and couldn't care less?

No doubt there will be a TV documentary with a few actors wearing Trooper helms, mostly with crests. Not a marching song, nor a roar to Jupiter to be heard. Let's just hope the right experts are chosen to do the narrative, because that's all most will get to see and hear.

I sincerely hope this plan will not be aborted...

I'd like to help but I think I do not have the needed experience. I can say however that our (informal) group would be present. We are a group of 14 now but we might have grown by 2009. I told my friends about this idea and they really liked it.

There are some fairly large groups in Germany that I guess would certainly participate. But I think a lot of them do not know of RAT... In Europe alone there are hundreds of roman reenactors(first century) that do not use RAT.

Salve Alexius,
i didnt disapeared, i just didnt noticed you wrote once more here Wink
So i would try to get the needed contact if the plan will come true.

But as i said, i think the really low interest in here shows a lot.
A better idea is to talk to the groups and their "leaders" directly to ask them if they are interested and then analyse it here.

The large groups in germany would have to be asked for that first (the largest and best are the Legio XXII PRfrom Bitburg and the Römerkohorte Opladen. I guess some of them now this but dont take part regulary.
I can ask them, if its become a real plan.

Right now it really sounds different to the poll itself.

Lets see it from this direction, groups which would like to participate:
Via Romana, France
Legio XI Claudia from, Belgium
Lusitanis (if Alxius isnt to angered Smile ) , Portugal
Flavii, Germany

Just to calculate military:
I'll ask the Minverii for it and the Legiones XXI and XXII (Hamburg in Germany and Bitburg in Germany).
If its really paid, the Timetrotter ( www.time-trotter.de ) will surely also come, but they also have to be asked before.
Whats about fectio and the Legio I Adiutrix. Interested?

@Alexius, right now i remembered that i answered your question right before you asked. Read the postings before and you ll see that i mentioned several places where it would be nice to happen, but all places surely have to be cleared before.
So its more a question who will take part before rest starts.
Cause, like i said in my first posting in here, it only makes sense if someone take the costs and there are really enough interested to seperate it from other events.
And we have a lot of them here in Germany.
And of course, some time in future also the "a" question will have to be.

They soudns really great and like you had already to do with the EU Smile

As far as i can see, theres Portugal, Germany, France with groups, and Belgium & England with "informal groups" or single persons.
And perhaps, with engagment of Fectio it would be for sure 4 and more countries.

But still, we dont know which groups will participate.

Send around messages on history-forums to find someone interested ? It may sound quite silly, but mouth-to-mouth messages are still the best way to get the people know about an event. Plus (out of personal experience) many people do want to start with re-enactment but does not know how to start. If they can see such things and get into contact, there might be more participants (2009 is 3 years from now, without a doubt there'll be more future-re-enactors we don't know yet Wink .
