Show here your Germanic warrior impression
Quote:Also, more recent analysis of Pouan shows it dates to Roughly 480, and Visigothic and Frankish Elements in that area were rather similar.

I will take a new look on this so Wink
Do you have links, or names of the authors for this new papers?

Let me get it, will edit this post in a minute

EDIT: Discussion here includes a book reference:
http://www.romanarmytalk.com/rat/17-roma...l?start=60

The Sword design is Frankish, comparable to other finds dated to the 480's, and the Visigoths did not put weapons in their burials, but franks did.

Some new picts:

The ripuarian "kit" from Flonheim in test: not the true copy of spatha & semispatha, and tunic wich needs to be resized Wink
Tunic is in stripped linen, one interpretation of the text of Apollinaris about the Ripuarians in Chalons. Some golden ratlers are fited on the sleeves. Boots will need to be changed: uncofortable at possible! :/
Ango & framea in progress. Umbo on the second pict with a semi-lenticular shield, wich allows to wear javelins (ash-plywood with stuked or sewn linen).

And the beginings of my girlfriend's kit, from Nouvion en Ponthieu, grab 273 (PM/Arround 480/500):

For now, the 2 thugingian fibula (not visible on theses 2 picts), and the 2 asymetrical/fingered ones are in "FIMO", wax models waiting for an bronze apropriate oven.
Tunic based on Nydan's one, and coat on the Bathilde's one (more later, i know...)

I saw, the Flondheim Blade. Hadn't seen that one yet, its a great piece though. It very much resembles Pouan, that's for sure. What threw me off was the Cloisonne - Pouan wasn't found with a Guard or Pommel, just the handle guilding and the Cloisonne parts to the scabbard.

There is although a lot of classification concerning sword pommels (Meghin for example). These sort of items are the most port of many museums-collections, due to the cloisonned or damasquined decorations Wink

This is my first post ever to the forum.  I've been a long time fan, but only just joined recently.  This is my Germanic kit, such as it is.  The shield is handmade.  Yes, I know that it would be perhaps more proper to have a rim, but this is a work in progress.  You can't see my shoes, but they are very plain leather shoes typical of what you would expect.  I suppose my kit is probably more appropriate for the Migration Period than the era usually represented by Germanic reenactors.  Feel free to offer criticism and suggestions for improvement, I'm open to more experienced reconstructionists.  Cheers!                                                                                                                                              [img][Image: FullSizeRender_zps90crtfu5.jpg][/img]
