Quote:Hello everyone,

I am Sean Foster. I was referred to this forum by Mike (arklore70)

- where are you from?
North Carolina, USA

- how'd you become interested in Rome?
I have always been interested in history. I studied Latin in high school and this forged an interest in Roman history

- why are you here?
This forum seems an excellent way to share information. I am involved on a forum for another era of history and I enjoy the format.

- do you re-enact, are you a student, an academic professional, or..?
Yes, I re-enact. I am just getting into Roman re-enacting but I have been involved in other eras for a decade.

What other eras? Have pics?

Ok, my real name is Tobias Gabrys.
Coming from the right side of the rhine, the left side in Germany and living also there, between the CCAA (Cologne) and Bonna.
I m member in the groups of Flavii (from earliest roman time till Marcus Aurelius), Minervii (later army) and Hetairoi

I aborted my study of german and history with way to become a teacher to study ancient history, classical archaelogy and german at magister artium. I should do it long time before as my prof. said, but....you know...

I became interested in reenactment while the idea for a project in experimental archaelogy, which sadly failed, and that turned me right to the way in these expensive hobby.

I m here to stay in communication with other groups, to share my experience and knowledge and get a part of the experiences of others and their knowledge (and sometimes wisdome).

As you can read, my english is possibly the worst in this forum, cause i didnt used it for over 7 years and now have to do with other languages enough.
Till now this forum was very helpfull and i hope i can be a little help also.

Ave, fellow RATs.

I joined RAT a few days ago and have been posting a bit already, but I haven't yet done the introductions.

My name is David Sullivan and I live in Lynnwood, WA, (just north of Seattle) USA. I found Romanarmy.com and RAT by chance while looking something up on the Internet--it seems that one always finds the best things when looking for something else.

I've always been a bit of a Rome junkie, so this Web site is like pure dope to me. I've been a miniature wargamer and dilettante historian for almost 30 years. My avatar is a scan from my old, yellowed copy of Michael Simkins' The Roman Army from Caesar to Trajan (Osprey 1974), which was my first ever book on the Roman army.

The later period of the empire is the one I find most fascinating from every aspect: military, social, and political.

I am not a reenactor, but I am fascinated by it. I may yet succumb to the temptation, but for now I might just pick up a few items as collectibles and curios.

I'm glad I've found you all and plan to stay.

Definitely one of my favorite authors and favorite series. The fact that he has a doctorate is evident in the quality of his writing. (Well, not to suggest that all "doctors" are gifted writers... but his detailed knowledge clearly shines through.)

Retired veteran... now there's a role I could probably handle! And, since I just passed twenty years in the Air Force, I'm actually eligible to join those ranks.

I was "ML Restitvtvs," changed name to simpler "Restitvtvs"

Still researching & planning my 5th century impressions (infantry & retiree), but I'm dropping 1st century infantry retiree impression.
