Quote:here's another section from that mosaic which shows the piper with what appears to be a clapper under his foot.
Thanks - it really has got a tremendous sense of life to it. It also looks very clean and fresh, like it was made yesterday. Has it been heavily restored, do you know?
Looking at it I'd say not, if it has been then it's been done very, very well. Nowadays if any restoration is done then they are careful to ensure that the restored areas can be easily identifiable.
Is that a foot tapping rhythm instrument under the foot of the man with the aulos? Looks something like the device a bass drummer uses. Just wondering.
Yes, I think it's definately a foot tapper as opposed to some form of squeezebox as with the other piper. There is an area where there is a line of tesserae used which is the same colour as that used for the background so in my opinion it is being used to denote a gap rather than a part of the instrument.
Interesting stand for the amphora too, I wonder what that would look like in reality?
I got this CD of old iron age music today - it is really very cool music! Like it!
About the tapper i spoke with profesor for music in our school, she will research more about that item.
Hi, i have no idea what are you talking - spaming? about, because the music's origines on this CD are dating in time ab 800-400 BC. The Scotsmans and the kilts haven't connection to that preroman continental culture tradition. I posted in my first text that the Albin Paulus's CD shows the music of continental old iron age.
But i correct the topic's title again, that it will be clear what is the topic-time of this theme.
