Our new simple Vexillum
#1
Here's a new vexillum I made. It's painted on 100% linen. I was thinking of adding a small "SPQR" near the bottom in white letters, and maybe a wreath in a light gold at the top. What do you all think?

It looks good to me as well. I think too, that it is closer to most of the evidence than those of most groups are. It is worth bearing in mind too that the often cited example from Egypt has never been conclusively shown to have actually been a vexilum. Most of the scupted examples, if detail is present, show little more than the unit's name and number, much as yours does. Have a laud point on me then. Smile

Yeah, a laude from me as well. Nice to see the simple stuff being remade, and not over-embellished like a film costume designer would want

Yea! Go Magnus. Looks great, and it looks great being "simple" ~ I wouldn't change or add anything to it.

I also like the danglies Big Grin

I'm actually going to improve the danglies latter on...maybe the cresent moon shape ones, and add some more tinned studs to a dyed blue leather strap.

Thanks for all the comments!

Matt, just wondering what kind of paint did you use ... Acrylic perhaps?
And did you make stencils for the letters, or draw in the lines with pencil, then paint it?
