Who agrees with me that the football yesterday was ghastly? Was there even a good game played? Must've missed it. Our team f'd up aginst Byelorussia, The Germans against Wales, and well, England.. let's move on.

The advantage of England not being at the EC is that we don't have to watch Victoria Beckham.

I suspect it's the result of the more successful local clubs having more nationalities in the ranks. Statistically, there's less choice from the Premier teams compared to, say, 40 years ago. Victims of their own success?

The team selection should be broader and include players from the other divisions to make the selection wider. This would also keep the Premier managers happier. There are players hungrier for national selection who don't stand a chance simply because of where they sit in the Leagues, but probably are just as skilled as some other national players. However, they're not getting the chance to move up because Premier selection is more open to worldwide candidates.

I was thoroughly ashamed the other night, and we didn't deserve to go through.

Hi Jim,
Not sure I understand the English selection system. Is it limited to the Premier league only? Afaik, the Dutch coach is allowed to pick anyone he wants from wherever, long as they're Dutch of course and it's nice if they know how to play the game.

I can't think of a single player in our national squad that comes from outside of the Premier league.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure. I'll look into it. In fact, there's a job going at England, so I might....
