What an amazing amount of text this topic has provoked. In the end its a matter of enjoyment by the reader and here Bill's book(sadly only one copy) is doing the rounds of the Guard (not Chris he does not read novels) with universal enjoyment. Recently an author Gillian Bradshaw had a chat with me at one of our gigs and this served to remind me that each book is a child that took a great deal of anguish and effort in its birth. It is also a hostage to fortune and sadly if its an historical novel it gets too little attention good or bad from the critics. We need to show respect for those of our number brave enough to tread the perilous path to the printer

I have no objection to the last post whatsoever. In fact, I think he is a man of excellent taste. I should also point out that we are not relations and have no financial link.

Calling me 'Uggulden' is forgiveable in this context, Paolo, despite the school flashback you gave me.

I'm glad you enjoyed the books so far. I read the review and enjoyed looking at the site.

Cheers and best wishes,
you mean...the 'mr uggulden' in the review or 'conn uggulden' in my post ?
did you go to one of those schools where you had to wear a suit and tie ?

no one called me by my last name in school, i sat in the back of my classes and hoped the teacher would think i was a visitor.
i am honoured you enjoyed my website and appreciate your taking the time to look at it.
what influences your writing style most ?

my most humble apologies, mr Iggulden.

i will indeed sign up, i already took a peek, while, waiting for the bright red of embarrassment to stop lighting up the forum (was this forum always red?) seems like i managed to get it right on the book review at amland. i will further pay my penance by fixing the spelling where i can, my webpage, but i think i should leave it here, or our comments would become confusing. (i certainly wouldn't want anyone to miss out on my most embarrassing moment. no doubt a highlight for the entire forum community.)

having one's name misspelled is annoying, imagine being called paola in chat rooms. or... paulo ! look at this : synchronicity ? (scroll to bottom)
Thank you for not editing the exchange, paolo. It really is quite amusing and fun to read. I love the wonderful politeness of the whole conversation. Both you and Mr. Iggulden come across as really good sports.
If you think the problem is bad, wait until you hear the solution

so kind of you to say. what greater gift is there, than to be part of another's smile ?

mr Iggulden (it was so tempting to put in the 'U') has indeed been patient and kind,
i could do no less than attempt to reciprocate.

a pleasure to meet you...
