The English language really needs some updates (like there's also this habit to give Ancient Germanic tribes the same name as modern Germans). I think the Italian language on the other hand does it better by calling Germans Tedeschi.

Erm, I know were the word comes from, I'm just saying the English could have (like the Italians) found more useful terms by now.
