Hi folks!
I was wondering if someone could comment on my choice. Since my hometown is Füssen, and this is my hometown´s coat of arms:
I thought it would be nice to have a yellow shield background and a black three-foot design on it. Is this a possible / sensible choice?

Here is a list of vases with Triskeles that might be of help. Its from that Brazilian thesis on shield blazons posted on another thread.

I found this after googling "triskeles" Christian:

Doesn't give much as to where the actual reference was from, but it may point you in the right direction, and that looks pretty similar to yours.

Matt: thanks a lot! it is funny that the Isle of Man and Füssen have an identical symbol
I scanned the Beazley Database (Thanks for the pic, Paul, I cannot access the articl from Germany, sowas quite happy) for depictions of Triskeles on shields now, and found several shield designs of light backgrounds with black triskeles on them. I assume that not all shields had a bronze facing, so I guess I´ll go for my yellow-black thingy.
I´ll use Kasein paint and seal with wax.
I wonder if I should cover the shield facing with rawhide? Would make sense, no? Bronze rim? Or is there vidence for shields without at least a bronze rim?

Is is interesting that the "triskelon" appears in areas rich with water or islands.
Medieval Sicely had a "triskelon" with a "gorgoneion"(!!) on its coat of arms
Isle of Man has it also on tis coat of arms.
Some pottery from "Magna Gretsia" has fish forming a "triskelon" and they come from cities blesses with water abudanse.
Kind regards
