Instant 3D-Laserscan for (almost) everyone ??
#1
.... a hasty thumb-through at
http://www.archaeologie-online.de/magazin/nachrichten/
....brought my attention to the spreading of a relatively new technology (at least at THAT size !)...
3-D-Laserscan by Mobile Phones.
It has been developped by the ETH at Zürich utilizing the Android O.S. and other features already built into these devices.
Overview:

The "english " part at ETH:

Under "Links" there are papers (in English) used for the presentaion of this method.
Enjoy.

Interesting I hope it will be released shortly
I can't wait to test it, and I can think it will be a nice boon to us

I thought I'd read that a special purpose droid was being produced with two lenses especially for supporting 3d.
There is also a add on device, not apparently in production yet, that clips to an ipad that does this as well, for small objects to rooms.

Moved to off topic, because I couldn't figure out where else to put it.

Off topic perhaps, but I do hope that when this technology finally gets a good, common implementation that the photos we now share get re-done as 3D scans.

I take it no one has one of these ?
