Abstract
In the 4th century BC the Greek warfare underwent major changes because of the development of siege-craft and the innovation of the catapult. Technicians who worked on catapults and other devices used in sieges gained in influence on warfare and military decisions. Technology became a major aspect in the waging of war, and mechanics tried to increase the efficiency of newly developed arms such as the catapult. Objections to the developments in military technology cannot be found in Greek literature.
