Hi,
Just wanted to show you some pictures from an event last weekend (11 september) at Velzeke (Belgium). The Römercohorte Opladen had their ballista and scorpio with them. The power of the shot with the scorpio can be seen in one of the pics.
There's also a picture of a reconstruction of the Weiler-helmet. The man who made it is Luc De Vos. He said he still had to change the browband.
I hope you'll enjoy these pictures:

Gents, if there are more pics, I'd be happy to set up a category in Romanarmy.com where your photos can have a permanent home.

Hi,
Jef,
sorry we didn't meet in Velzeke. Some time ago you have send me a message, to which I replied (via your email) but your mailaddress bounced. I would like to know more about your new re-enactment group.
Jasper,
I have some more pictures, but only a few. Maybe not enough to put into a permanent category in RA.com.
Regards,
Hans

Are those real stone balls or wooden ones?

Hi Ivan,
IIRC they were real stone balls.

Hi Ivan,
IIRC stands for "If I recall correctly".
Although I'm still not that really old, my memory sometimes plays tricks on me.

Hi Hans
Very nice the artillery, and effective!
We could see them, with other comilites of the Prima Germanica, in Tarraco Viva 2005.
We wished not to be in front of these devices, besides seeing the efficiency of the escorpio

Hi Tibisius,
Yes they were really impressive. They used wooden dummies as target and they were able to shoot the head of one of them. Glad it wasn't me standing there.
