Roman Empire paper money
#1
If the Romans had printed paper money it may have looked something like this:
Of course then the Roman Empire may have fallen sooner because of the temptation to print money to cover deficit spending.

That looks interesting. I like that.

Well, actually they did do something like that. But instead of "printing" more paper money, they just debased their coinage. But of course it was the same result: inflation, increase in the shadow economy and shaken faith in the monetary system.

It's a good thing that idea died with the Fall, eh, David? It could be economically disastrous if that practice continued later on in civilization. Glad we learn from history!

The paper money should have some gold and silver foil stamped into it, too, to add to it's value Big Grin

I'd hate to see what would have happened in the Year of the Four Emperors Confusedhock:

It's certainly a neat idea. If my engraving was better and I had my own press, heck, I'd consider printing reproduction money with all sorts of different designs, as well as copying historical money like for ACW and such Tongue

Ummm. I think there may be rules against that...There are ways to make SIMILAR to real paper money ok, but be careful. I doubt the the Confederate government will say much about it, but the Federal one just might. Confusedhock:
