Raphael - ok I am going to try this again All the info just got lost! :? shock: :evil: :roll: - Most HO stuff will work with your scaleI have used HO scale flocks ballasts and such for scales 15 & 25 mm figs.

SOME MORE GRASS
There are more colours but you can see there is a nice range.
There are for making ground :
Ballast ( for making earth ) ground
Flock ( there are couple typs ) leaves busches trees grass
Lichen ( used as a builder ) for making busches and trees
There are a few manufacturers
Woodland Scenics ( nice stuff and cheap )
Kibri Pola Faller Vollmer Noch and others that are very nice stuff yu will also find that they carry pavers so you can make roman roads walls etc even Roof Tiles !
( Noch carries Cobblestone Pavement - Roman Form Roof tiles and walls)

In terms of basing, I apply a mixture of sand and grit and plaster to the bases, and paint in earth tomes. I then use the static grass that Octavianus recommends, applying it, in patches, with wood glue. Works best if you apply using the Noch puffer bottle (this buts it in the right place and helps it stand upright through static charges).
There are digging Romans figures in 28mm scale, notably from Crusader Miniatures
http://www.crusaderminiatures.com/prod. ... b=2&page=2 , and Wargames Foundry. I'm not aware of any in 20mm but I'm not an expert in that scale.
