Hoplomachi armour - Aethelwulf - 06-01-2007

Hello there

I'm trying to get the kit together to portray a hoplomachi I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for suppliers?

Thanks
Steve

If you can afford his work, Manning Imperial offers some excellent hoplomachus greaves and a helmet that would suit quite well, having a curved comb sans griffin protome. The padded leggings will probably need to be made by yourself, unless you can sucker someone into stitching them up for you. As for a shield, the ludus in England, Graham's group I believe, have altered large, deep cooking pots. I use a slightly dished metal shield about 28" in diameter.
