Advice - Grenadier - 04-29-2007 I have been offered this book The Armour of the Roman Legions - Robinson & Embleton Is it any good, I know Embletons painting but not the other guy Thanks in advance? Robin Re: Advice - Tarbicus - 04-29-2007 Robinson is H. Russell Robinson, godfather of Roman imperial armour and helmet typology and research. You'll find it cited in the bibliographies of many articles and recommended reading lists. Re: Advice - Robert Vermaat - 04-29-2007 Quote:I know Embletons painting but not the other guyYou mean H. Russell Robinson? I think that a nice book to have. I like Embleton's paintings, even if they were painted a long time ago (he died in 1988). ![]() Re: Advice - Graham Sumner - 04-29-2007 Quote:I have been offered this book And if someone offers you H. Russell Robinson 'Armour of Imperial Rome', try showing restraint and not to betray your eagerness to posses it, as it is worth it's weight in gold! If you like Embleton's work you will also appreciate 'Hadrian's Wall in the days of the Romans' written and published by Frank Graham and lavishly illustrated by Ronald Embleton. Graham. Re: Advice - arklore70 - 04-29-2007 Is there a reason why Robinson's work has not be reprinted? But you never know. |
